The National Key Laboratory of Digital Communication of General Administration of Press and Publication of the People’s Republic of China, approved by the former General Administration of Press and Publication in October 2006, was the first key laboratory established in University of Shanghai for Science and Technology. Directly led by the General Administration, the laboratory is based on the School of Publishing, Printing and Art Design of the university, the National Modern Publishing and Printing Experimental Teaching Center, and the key disciplines of digital publishing and communication, giving full play to engineering, literature, arts, and science, taking the comprehensive advantages of the cross-integration discipline of business and management,as well asthespecialty advantage of journalism, digital publishing, digital communication, digital printing, online new media, cultural and creative design, computer science, intelligent manufacturing, e-commerce, management science and engineering and other disciplines; Conducting Multidimensional scientific experimental research including basic experiments in digital publishing and new media dissemination, innovation experiments, product design, system development, development of standards, technology testing, communication effectiveness testing, digital media evaluation, user experience evaluation, new media audience research, decision-making planning consultation, making the cooperation with enterprises available to all walks of lives,providing research and development of technology and consulting services for the society.

Laboratory systems and equipment: The Key Laboratory of Digital Communication of General Administration of Press and Publication of the People’s Republic of China consists of the following labs:“New Media and Composite Publishing Laboratory”,“Digital Publishing Media Evaluation Laboratory”,“Eyesight Experiment and Communication Effect Evaluation Laboratory”,“User Experience and Behavior Observation Laboratory, Multimedia Editing Lab, Interactive Media Design Lab, Network Editing and Communication Lab, Streaming Media Lab, Mobile Platform Communication Lab, Publishing Resource Management Lab, Digital Printing Lab, Color Management Lab, Print Quality Testing Lab, Digital Creative Lab, Film and Television Post-production Lab, and Media-wide Advertising Experiment Room" and so on, with advanced digital publishing and dissemination related experimental equipment and experimental systems, the investment in laboratory construction exceeding 30 million yuan.
